Raj's legal journey began well before he graduated law school. He worked as a private investigator for 8 years, where he probed and investigated injury and disability claims for insurance companies. Raj now uses this unique skill set to win cases for his clients.
Raj has practiced exclusively in plaintiff personal injury. In the case of Ponych v. Klose, 2023 BCSC 1504, Raj's client was awarded over $1.95 million after a 4-week trial.* The insurance company argued that Raj's client did not sustain a brain injury in the accident, and that the impact on the plaintiff's life was minor since he went to work the day after the accident. These arguments, amongst others, were rejected by the trial judge.
In the case of Kler v. Kumar, 2023 BCSC 1515, the insurance company argued Raj's client did not sustain a spinal cord injury in the car accident and that his ongoing complaints were related to a pre-existing condition. They also argued the plaintiff should not be awarded any income loss since he earned more money after the accident. The insurance company's arguments were not accepted by the court, and Raj's client was awarded several hundred thousand dollars.*
Raj also has a special interest in representing victims of domestic and international aviation injuries. He has won cases against some of the largest airlines in the world.
In his spare time, Raj enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling with his wife, and playing games with his nieces and nephew.
